Happy New Year!

Ok so I took a little hiatus from the blog this fall, I had around 20 weddings in 3 months and on top of that the holiday’s, a trip to Mexico and California and lots of back and forth between Arkansas, Texas and Florida and lots of great family portrait sessions so blogging had to be put on the back burner for a while to keep up with life. But, it’s the new year and I’m back and I pinky promise not to go for so long again, I’ll even kiss the pinky promise, that means it’s for real. So I wanted to start off the new year with some beautiful bridal photo’s. Bridals kill me sometimes because I go have this amazing day with beautiful girls and take all these stunning photo’s and then I CAN’T SHARE THEM! So here I am now with some bridals, but not just any bridals, two sisters! They both got married in the same month this last year and it was so amazing getting to know these girls and their families, they are both so different from one another but they have a few big things in common, they both love their family, their husbands, and their God. (And they are also both DROP DEAD GORGEOUS) sheesh…

Rachael and Kyle-Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Elementary school…that is where they met, that is where they had their first crush, that is where it all began. Somehow Rachael and Kyle have managed to maintain that simplicity in their love. They know each other in a way that only happens after years of growing up together and seeing each other through childhood and now starting their lives together as man and wife. The joined together forever on the sandy beaches of Playa Del Carmen Mexico in front of their closest family and friends. Their love is relaxed and sincere and simple and they wanted a ceremony that would reflect that.  So on a sunny warm day in the Rivera Maya Rachael strolled down the beach arm in arm with her mom and dad, joined her love barefoot in the sand, and said “I do”.

This poem has always been a favorite of mine and it was read at their wedding, I shared it on the blog some time ago and I thought I would share it again, it almost has new life and new meaning for me.

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Lisa and Dustin are Married!

I couldn’t wait to see them. Both of them, together. I met Lisa during a tasting so she could choose her menu for the reception and we all chatted about the day as the planner walked her through her choices for table settings, salad’s and appetizers, what kind of lighting to use and all the fun fluffy things that make up a wedding. Then towards the end I had a moment to chat with Lisa alone, we were supposed to be talking about photography, what package she may want, how many hours of coverage she might need, but instead we talked about Dustin. She told me about his deployment, Dustin is a proud Marine (hoorah!) and as Lisa talked about the time apart her eyes started to well up with tears…and then mine did as well. She loved him…oh how she loved him and even the memory of missing him still impacted her so much. But one thing was clear, she was happy she did it and she would do it a million times over if it meant she would have the love of her life, she didn’t even have to say it…I could just tell by the look on her face. So I had to see them. Both of them, together. And months later at the rehearsal for the wedding I finally had the opportunity and as Lisa walked down the sandy aisle towards Dustin in her bikini and sun dress practicing for the big day and it was there again, that look on her face, and I quickly turned to look at Dustin and there was the same look on his, mirroring hers. They were as in love as two people can possibly be. It’s witnessing moments like that when I realize that I’m so incredibly blessed to be a photographer.
