Prince of Peace is a home to 50+ amazing girls in Guatemala that provides spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional support in times of crisis. After my first trip to visit this home in the summer of 2013 I fell in love with the sweet resilient girls who live there and gained such an admiration for all the wonderful work the home does to provide them a safe haven when it is most needed. It was impossible not to fall in love with the girls and to wanted to support the home in any way I could. Since 2013 I have returned 6 times as well as spending two Christmases at the home with the girls and I was able to bring gifts for all the girls thanks to so many generous donations. I'm continually in awe of peoples generosity and the homes commitment to loving and serving these beautiful children.

I was initially connected with the UNA when they contacted me to chat about me partnering with them and teach photography to local refugee children. The project was called Picture my Life: A Refugee Story. I was overjoyed at the idea and spent the summer of 2017 teaching 13 refugee children how to take photos and to express how they feel and how thew view the world through their photography. The hope is that that photography can serve as an outlet for them to work through the difficulties they have faced. This has all been thanks to the hard work and support of the UNA of Tampa Bay as well as the partnership of other organizations like DCF and RAMWI. The children are an inspiration and I love how photography has given them a voice when they may feel they do not have one.
