Rush

I love his name, don’t go stealing it but it’s pretty awesome right? I could really go on forever about this family… we’ve been through the ringer together after three photo sessions. The ringer of being pooped on, almost dying in the Austin summer heat, running from snakes, and generally dealing with the madness and mayhem of photoshoots, because make no mistake, there is some mayhem going on. I just feel so blessed to spend the day hanging out with people that I adore. Kasi is like a light, you can’t help but love her. Her hubby is kind and gentle and adores his kiddo’s (he even let Rush be bare naked in his amazing Fender case, after multiple poopie incidents…if that’s not love I don’t know what is). And Troy and Rush? Forget about it. I could smooch their sweet faces all day…seriously.

Erica and Andrew are Married!

She was nervous. I’ve seen quite a few brides on their wedding day so I could tell immediately. She was anxious about all the people being there, she was taking deep breaths and trying to get some food down…. but Erica couldn’t wait to marry Andrew, that I knew for sure. When she would talk about him suddenly her shoulders would relax, her eyes would smile, and a calm would seem to pass over her face. It was like nerves was the ailment and Andrew was the cure.

The day was filled with simple, authentic, overwhelming love. Erica and Andrew were surrounded by people who love them, who respect them, who were so honored to be a part of their day. It was obvious by the people there that Andrew and Erica have something very special that is worth marveling at.

And by the end of the night all nerves were gone and Erica looked blissfully happy as she hopped in her car filled with glow sticks and headed off with her husband and the love of her life.

This wedding was particularly special for me also because it’s the first wedding I’ve photographed with my dad. Any artistic ability I have I got from my mom and dad, my dad has a great eye and it was just nice to have him there and to share with him what I do and what I love. I think he was a little surprised at how much work it is, he repeatedly said “I have a new respect for what you do” which is a wonderful compliment because I’ve always had a great respect for him and how hard he works.  He snapped a photo of me while I was analyzing the light at the ceremony site… I look très serious.  And I snapped one of him too, of course.

Call me odd…

… but I really love this photo from a recent wedding. I have a ton of great smiling sweet photo’s of them I will be sharing in their blog post soon, but as I was going through picking out my faves this one really smacked me in the face. I think they look strong, resolved, they look like they are facing the world head on together, their strength is almost palpable.
